Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate AYP's 9th Year!!
With our beautiful little community of yoga growing we look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries!!!
Many of you asked for the recipe for the HEART COOKIES. It's a recipe my childhood friend gave me to make shape cookies with the kids. We use it for all the holidays and the kids love to cut out different shapes and even use something pointy to draw on the cookies before cooking them.
In a bowl mix the following:
5 cups of flour (I used whole wheat but you can use whatever you want)
4 teaspoons of baking powder
2 to 4 teaspoons of some kind of flavoring (I usually use cinnamon, ginger or quatre epices)
In another bowl cream 250 grams of room temperature butter with 2 cups of dark brown sugar and 1/2 cup of almond or soy milk.
Then gradually stir the dry mixture into the wet one. Often I have to use my hands to get it all mixed up. But perhaps if you have an electric mixer it is easier.
Divide the dough into quarters and roll them in balls, wrap them in plastic wrap and leave them in the fridge for at least an hour. You can also put some in the freezer to use at another time because this recipe makes a ton of cookies!
When you are ready to cut out the shapes, sprinkle some flour on the table and roll the balls flat, about half a centimetre thick. After cutting them all, put them in the oven at 200 degrees Celsius and back for 8-10 minutes.
If you want the totally non-healthy icing on top you just cream a couple of table spoons of butter and then slowly add icing sugar until it looks and tastes how you want it!
